a great resource for vegetarian baseball fans

Even though I’m not vegetarian, I have a lot of friends who are, and many who are leaning that way. As I noted earlier, RFK Stadium is selling veggie dogs this season for both Nationals and DC United (soccer) games. But trying to find veggie fare at ballparks is tough, to say the least. That’s

two plusses from the wilcox show

One of the positive things that came out of the David Wilcox show the other night was his CD sale. He and Nance, along with their son, Nate, are embarking on a year-plus roadtrip across the U.S.A., living in an Airstream trailer. As such, David and Nance are selling some of their extensive CD collection.

i don’t know if bono will yield….

In case the stock video for U2′s “Vertigo” isn’t doing it for you, try the new, improved Elmo version. It has to be seen to be believed. Be sure you aren’t mid-drink/mid-sip, as spit-takes do hellish things to computers.

bill frist is a pr*ck

There are no two words about it: Senator Bill Frist is a prick. He’s willing to “go nuclear” and change 200-plus year-old Senate rules allowing for the filibuster on Presidential nominees, which allows the Senate to place a moderating check on both the House of Representatives and the President. In fact, he’s so willing to

concert review: david wilcox & nance pettit, 22 april 2005

Last night, sprite and I went to see a fundraiser concert by David Wilcox and his life partner, Nance Pettit. The concert, held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill, featured songs from Wilcox and Pettit’s upcoming benefit album, Out Beyond Ideas. I’m quite sorry to report that this show, for all the promise

friday fun: the random times

As the world becomes more and more absurd, it’s refreshing to know that you can be up-to-speed with completely random news at The Random Times. The technology used to make this site is really slick, and the outcome rivals The Onion for sheer belly laughter. The code that generates the news is based on the

spring blahs (got jumper cables?)

This spring is proving quite the challenge. For some reason, I’m in this purgatory: neither here nor there, just running in place, no place I’ve been and no place to go. At least it seems this way, and I think it’s time to assess what’s going on, what’s not going on, what’s happened, what hasn’t

walking the walk

I’ve written recently about peak oil and megastores, and the need to live a better, sustainable lifestyle. Well, here’s a link that will help me (and my readers, all four of you) to shop more responsibly: Responsible Shopper. Many retailers are listed on this site, and some of the reviews are eye-opening. Some stores I

another reason i won’t use windows

I’m not the biggest fan of Microsoft, as most know (note the “Made on a Mac” badge on this site). But to read this story about how Microsoft caved to theocon pressure and backed off support of Washington House Bill 1515, an anti-gay discrimination bill that’s currently under consderation in the Washington legislature. I had
