bang – that’s my shoulder

I should be posting my workout log, but something happened at the end of my rainy ride: I crashed and dislocated my shoulder. OUCH! My left hand slipped off the brakes and I headed toward a wrought iron fence. Not wanting to impale myself, I stuck out my left arm to arrest my fall, and…

post-utah wrap-up

The last post was rather cryptic, so let me fill in some details. Last Wednesday, my mom had a mild heart attack. She actually diagnosed herself via EKG (she’s an anesthesiologist, and was prepping for a case), and drove herself to the hospital. She had an angiogram that found no blockage or narrowing of the

quick update from utah

Just a quick word from the Wasatch Front. Mom is doing okay, she’s up and around. She’s still stubborn – wanting to run around too soon – but it could’ve been a lot worse. I’m returning to DC on Monday, but I’ll enjoy the low humidity in SLC while I’m here.

road tire woes

I was going to head out on the PPTC Tuesday night ride, but came home to find my rear tire (which needs replacing, anyway) was flat. Totally flat. So I’m in the market for a new rear tire a little earlier than expected. I’m running a Specialized Mondo 700x23c on the front, and I really

pbs woes: keep the programming local

The Hartford Courant is running a short series (part 1, part 2) on the woes at Connecticut Public Television. Over the past 16 months, CPTV has moved to a new, larger office while slashing positions, cutting back local programming, and losing both viewership and the resulting donors. CPTV has run up large debts: past-due phone,
