Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) just claimed on Face The Nation that U.S. voters should vote for Republicans because BushCo “has prevented more attacks on us since 2001.”

What a claim, given that virtually all of the action in stopping terror has happened due to the efforts of police efforts from Great Britain, Pakistan, Germany and Italy – not because of anything we’ve done in Afghanistan or Iraq. If anything, the U.S. has fueled the fire of terrorism in the world because we don’t address the issue of why the terror groups want to attack America.

Just like in medicine, if you don’t treat the causes, symptoms – in this case, terrorist attacks, rhetoric and recruitment – will continue to occur.

Until we actually take a look inside, we won’t achieve any progress in the so-called “War on Terror.” And from what I’ve seen, neither part is willing to do that.
