cycling in may 2007: week 2

The data for week two:

  • 9 rides
  • 147.0 miles

And for the month so far:

  • 17 rides
  • 266.1 miles

I’ve missed two days, but that’s fine. And now it’s Bike-To-Work Week, so every weekday will feature bike commuting.

workout log: 14 may 2007

Activity: road cycling
Location: Georgetown > Alexandria, VA > Dupont Circle
Distance: 19.1 miles (mostly flat)
Duration: 1:22
Weather: mostly cloudy but pleasant, 70 degrees
Avg HR: 128 (max 142)
Type: aerobic

A nice, gentle post-work spin on the Mount Vernon Trail. I didn’t do this ride with any goal other than to move the legs a bit for the day. I got to take a lot of great photos of airplanes landing at DCA, of Old Town Alexandria, and of a pair of mallard ducks – they’ll be posted to Flickr tomorrow. There was a really good south breeze, which was accentuated by the wake vortex action behind landing aircraft (B737-800s with blended winglets seemed to leave the most dramatic – and noisy – wake turbulence).
