Michael Brown is willing to point the finger of blame anywhere but toward himself. Yes, the state and local authorities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama had their own problems, but they were also looking toward the feds for guidance and assistance.

FEMA is supposed to be there in cases like this. They weren’t. Brown headed FEMA, so there ‘ya go.

And to think that he’s going to remain involved with FEMA as a “special advisor.” The mind strains to see the logic in this appointment.

While in England, it was so tough to find anybody with anything good to say about the Bush administration. The English people don’t mind the people of the U.S., only the government. And their own Labour goverment, finding itself and its leader, Tony Blair, under increasing scrutiny from the media and the people, is trying to overhaul its image. First you get Gordon Brown reupping Labour’s commitment to “positive change” in the UK. And then there’s word that the UK may pull its troops from Iraq sooner than expected – a move that will also force Japan to withdraw its limited troop presence from the region.

So, Mr. Bush: what of your so-called “coalition of the willing” now?
