Spending the weekend in Connecticut for Easter, and it’s a welcome break.

Firstly, the climate up here is a few weeks behind DC – they actually had a winter – and the pollen count is much, much lower. So my allergies are on hiatus, allowing my poor nose and lungs to recover a bit.

(And a side note: the new Sudafed PE is complete crap. It does nothing to decongest – they might as well call it “Sudafed Placebo,” for all its effectiveness. Thankfully, a shop here in CT had the real Sudafed in stock, so I bought some. Aaaaah…..)

And last night we went to Modern Apizza in New Haven for a dose of some real pizza. It was wonderful! The crust, the cheese, the sauce – all of it tasted right. Much as people in DC claim that there is real pizza (at places like Vace, Radius, Pizzeria Paradiso and 2 Amys), the stuff in New Haven is the real deal. The pizza stays hot from the oven and throughout the meal, unlike DC pizza which cools before the second slice can be consumed (note to DC-area pizzarias: leave the pie in the oven a little longer, and keep your ovens hotter). And there are no frou frou toppings getting in the way – it’s basic, it’s Italian, it’s the real deal.

A little taste of the good stuff.
