So it’s been a while since I’ve posted a workout log.

Yet I’ve been riding and working out – just not in the same intensity as during the normal riding season.

Let’s recap the stuff I’ve done:

Cycling:
January 1: Participated in PPTC’s “Circle of Cycles” ride down at Hains Point. I’d been out late the previous night, watching movies with friends, so I slept in the next morning and watched the Tournament of Roses Parade, as well as much of the Florida-Michigan bowl game, before heading out to ride. The wind was fierce that day – easily a steady 20-25 mph on the northbound side of Ohio Drive – and it limited my ride to 19.5 miles.
January 6: A quick, 13-mile spin out to Glen Echo and back, hitting the hill on Chain Bridge Road along the way. Felt good, and I wanted to take advantage of the weather on a sunny and atypically warm Sunday.
January 12:A fun ride around the northern Beltway perimeter with Mike, a PPTC friend. We rode a 36.5 mile route, up Rock Creek Park, around Silver Spring and College Park, and back into DC. We did one loop around the National Arboretum for good measure before heading home. The ride was an early one, per Mike’s design. My right knee felt a little off, as I’m still dialing in my position on the ZX3.
January 16:A pre-dawn ride at Hains Point, again with Mike. I managed 18.4 miles, all told (around 15.5 of that around the loop at Hains) before arriving back home by 7 am. I saw the lovely crimson of the sunrise, as well, which was really great.

Skiing:
December 27-28: A post-Christmas trip to Stowe, Vermont, which had one of its snowiest Decembers in history this season. The conditions were great, and I had a wonderful time. The second day, I borrowed a pair of Fischer RC4 Progressor skis, which are my new favorite ski – I must track down a pair. The same day also had some wonderful powder skiing over the first hour, before the crowds arrived. My feet were in agony on both days, as my new Lange boots need additional work (being done this week).
